Pharmacological effect of Adalat:

Antihypertensive, antianginal, vasodilator. Blocking the calcium channels. Inhibits the transmembrane entry of calcium ions into smooth muscle cells of blood vessels. Indications Adalat:

Parenteral - hypertensive crisis, coronary artery spasm; 

PO - angina, hypertension, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, Raynaud's disease, chronic heart failure, hypertensive crisis; retard tablets - Raynaud's disease, ischemic heart disease, arterial hypertension.

Administration and Dosage Adalat

Dose and duration of therapy determined individually depending on the severity of the disease and sensitivity to the drug. The recommended starting dose is 30 mg / day. The maximum daily dose of 120 mg. Elderly patients receiving the combination (antianginal or antihypertensive) therapy should be prescribed lower doses. If abnormal liver function in patients with severe stroke dose should be reduced.

Contra Adalat:

   - Cardiogenic shock;

   - Severe hypotension (systolic blood pressure <90 mm Hg);

   - Ileostomy established after proktokolektomii;

   - The simultaneous use of rifampicin;

   - Pregnancy;

   - Lactation (breastfeeding);

   - Children and teens under 18 years of age (efficacy and safety have not been established);

   - Hypersensitivity to the drug and other dihydropyridine derivatives.

Designate caution Osmo-Adalat in heart failure, severe aortic stenosis, subaortalnom stenosis, acute myocardial infarction with left ventricular failure, marked bradycardia, hepatic failure, severe cerebral circulatory disorders, mild to moderate hypotension, stenosis of any gastrointestinal, malignant hypertension and hypovolemia, as well as elderly patients and patients in hemodialysis.

Side effects of Adalat:

When parenteral administration - hypotension, tachy-or bradycardia, asystole, increasing pressure in the left ventricle, a burning sensation at the injection site, with oral - dyspeptic disorders, headache, dizziness, weakness, blurred vision, flushing, anxiety, fear, tachycardia, decreased blood pressure, swelling of legs, paresthesia of hands and feet, myalgia, tremor, gynecomastia, gingival hyperplasia, intrahepatic cholestasis, anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenic purpura, hyperglycemia, chest pain (requiring discontinuation of the drug), and allergic reactions.

Precautions Adalat:

Should not be parenterally administered simultaneously with beta-blockers (possibly unpredictable amplification steps).
